Short answer
Bulk Data Import is a service where our team imports your customer list into SynkedUP for you. That's it — customer records, with optional multiple properties per customer, right from the template. Anything else — items, post-import corrections, adding properties to customers that already exist — is on you to handle manually inside the app.
If you want the cheat-sheet version, three rules cover most of the questions:
We import customer lists. Multiple properties per customer are fine if they're in the CSV.
Once imported, any changes to those customer records are a manual process in-app.
We can't import properties to add later to a customer that's already in the system.
What's in scope
Customer list imports from a CSV, using our template. The template has columns for basic customer info plus Property1, Property2, Property3, and so on — so if a customer (like a property-management company) has multiple service locations, you can list all of them in one row and they'll come in together with the customer.
That's the whole service.
What's not in scope
Changes after the import is done. Once your customer list lands in SynkedUP, every correction, addition, or edit to those customers is something you handle yourself in-app. We don't do rolling updates.
Properties-only imports. A file of just addresses — no customer or company name attached — isn't usable. The property has to live underneath a customer, and the customer name is how we know which one.
Adding properties to an existing customer. If the customer is already in your SynkedUP (whether it's one we imported earlier or one you created yourself), we can't push more properties onto that customer record through another bulk import. Those additions are manual.
Anything other than customers. Not employees, not suppliers, not historic jobs, not invoices.
What about items?
If you need to get your Item Catalog loaded up, that's a DIY CSV import you can run yourself — no paid service required. See:
How to request a Bulk Data Import
Inside SynkedUP, head to System Setup > Import & Export. The Bulk Data Import request lives there — you'll submit your customer CSV file from that screen and our team will pick it up from the queue.
Common questions
"Can I do the customer import myself instead of paying for the service?"
Yes — we have a DIY article: How To Import Your Customers into SynkedUP. The paid service is for shops that would rather hand us the file and have us take care of it.
"I imported customers without all their properties. Can you do a second import to fill in the missing properties?"
No. Properties can only ride in alongside the initial customer import. After that, adding properties is a manual step on each customer record.
"What about a customer I created manually — can you add properties to them through a bulk import?"
Same answer as above: no. Any customer that's already in your SynkedUP needs property edits done manually.
"What if I need something that isn't a customer list imported?"
Shoot us a message in the chat box and tell us what you're trying to accomplish. We may have a DIY path (like Items) or a workflow recommendation. What we can't do is a one-off bulk import of employees, suppliers, historic time, etc. as part of the service.
