Sometimes you need to stop a customer from being able to view a proposal you've already sent — maybe you're sending an updated version, the deal fell through, or the customer changed their scope. Here are the four ways to handle it.
Quick Reference
Sending an updated proposal: send a new version — the old link is deactivated.
Customer declined just one work area: mark that work area On Hold.
Whole job is dead: mark the job Lost.
Just want it gone eventually: wait — every proposal link auto-expires after 30 days.
Option 1: Send a new proposal (most common)
When you send a new version of a proposal to the same customer, SynkedUP automatically deactivates the old proposal link so only the latest version is accessible to the client.
See Success Checklist: How to Send a Proposal for the full send workflow. Once you click Send for Review on the new version, the old link stops working.
Use this when: your numbers changed, you added or removed a work area, or you want to give the customer a clean updated view.
Option 2: Mark a work area "On Hold"
If the customer only declined part of the proposal — say, two of three work areas — you can mark the unwanted work area On Hold. That keeps the rest of the proposal valid while pulling the declined work area out of play.
See What Does "On Hold" Mean on a Work Area? for the details.
Use this when: only some work areas need to be removed; the rest still stand.
Option 3: Mark the job Lost
If the whole deal is dead and you don't expect the customer to come back, mark the job as Lost in Estimates. This takes it out of your active pipeline.
Use this when: the customer went with another contractor, decided not to do the project, or otherwise walked away.
Option 4: Auto-expiry (just wait)
Every proposal link automatically expires 30 days after it's sent. After that, the link won't open the proposal anymore, even without any action from you.
Use this when: there's no urgency, and you'd rather let the timer run out than send anything new.
